Chennai: Karnataka openers Robin Uthappa (131) and K.B. Pawan (54) raised 157 runs but the host collapsed to 264 for six against Railways on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy Group ‘B’ super league match.
The Karnataka slump in Bangalore was triggered by paceman Harvinder Singh and left-arm spinner Murali Kartik who claimed five wickets between them. S. Sohal’s 110 took Punjab to a competitive 228 for five after Delhi pacemen Aashish Nehra and Pradeep Sangwan made early inroads in the Group `A’ Super League game in New Delhi.
A record unbeaten 193-run partnership for the fourth wicket between skipper Swapnil Asnodkar and import Ajay Ratra saw Goa post a healthy 328 for three against Kerala in their Group ‘A’ clash at Palakkad.
