BANGALORE: Karnataka athletes claimed 41 medals, which included 17 gold, 20 silver and 12 bronze in the ‘Special Olympics Bharat’ meet for the intellectually challenged, which concluded at Anantapur on Wednesday.

The notable performers for Karnataka were the 17-year-old Shantala, who won gold in both shot put and 200m sprint and the 13-year old Gururaj (200m), the youngest gold medallist at the Games. Special Olympics Bharat will field an Indian team for the World meet, scheduled to be held in Athens next year.
