Poonam shines for Bhilai Steel Plant
Poonam Chaturvedi (52 points) helped Bhilai Steel Plant defeat DYES, Mysore 81-73 in the semifinals of the all-India Invitation Dasara women’s basketball tournament at the Chamundivihar indoor stadium here on Friday.

MPHA in semifinals
Two excellent field goals by centre-half Priyanka (37th & 50th minutes) and a goal each by forwards Deeksha Tiwari (24th) and Tarini Kumari (28th), helped M.P. Hockey Academy, Gwalior register a 4-1 win over DYES, Mysore and enter the semifinals by topping Group B in the all-India Dasara Invitation women’s hockey tournament here on Friday. DYES reduced the margin through Kavyashree in the 47th minute to finish second in Group B and qualify for the semifinals. Sahabhad Hockey Academy finished first and SAI, Bhopal, second and qualified for the last four from Group A.
The results: Group A: Rourkela, Orissa 1 (Reshma Lakra 19) drew with SAI, Madikeri 1 (M.Y. Leelavathy 48); Shahabad HA 4 (Jasjeet Kaur 39, 25, 57, Harminder Kaur 49) bt SAI, Bhopal 1 (40-og).
Group B: MPHA, Gwalior 4 (Priyanka 37, 50, Deeksha Tiwari 24, Tarini Kumari 28) bt DYES, Mysore 1 (Kavyashree 47).
