Rashmika on a roll

Karnataka’s Rashmika Rajan remained on course for two titles at the KTPPA-M.P. Prakash memorial AITA Championship Series junior tennis tournament after semifinal victories in both categories here on Thursday.

The results (semifinals):

Boys: U-18: B.R. Nikshep bt Akhil Kanakaraj 7-5, 6-3; Vashist bt I.B. Akshay 6-4, 6-1.

U-16: Aditya Anat Gokhale bt Pranash Babu 6-4, 6-3; Nihit Rawal bt Md. Taquddin 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Girls: U-18: Rashmika Rajan bt Moulika Reddy 6-4, 7-6 (4); Pragati Nataraj bt Nisha Shenoy 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (4).

U-16: Abhinika bt Harsha Sai Chala 6-1, 6-3; Rashmika Rajan bt Aarushi Thakkar 6-1, 6-3.

IBBC, Bosch are champions

IBBC and Bosch emerged the State ‘B’ and ‘C’ division basketball champions respectively after differing victories on Thursday.

BBC saw off Sports Hostel 62-52 in the ‘B’ division final to lift the M.C. Srinivasa memorial trophy.

Bosch edged Orions SC 52-46 to the S. Rangarajan memorial trophy.

The results (finals): ‘B’ div.: IBBC 62 (Karan 25, Shiva 11) bt Sports Hostel 52 (Vijay 16, Ganesh 13). ‘ C’ div.: Bosch 52 (Avinash 12, Ashwin 10) bt Orions SC 46 (Suhas 27).

Uttam Aiyappa shines

A stroke-filled 102 (13x4, 3x6) by Uttam Aiyappa helped St. Joseph’s Central School (Yelwal) register a 19-run win over Ideal Jawa Rotary HS in a league match of the KSCA Mysore Zone inter-school (under-16) cricket tournament on Thursday.

Easy for Bishop Cottons

Openers Jeshwanth (69 n.o.) and Rahul Kumar (43 n.o.) guided Bishop Cottons HS to a 10-wicket victory over St. Joseph’s HS in a Cottonian Shield juniors’ semifinal here on Thursday.

Facile win for SJIHS

Three goals within the first eight minutes of the match sealed an emphatic 3-0 verdict for St. Joseph’s Indian High School (SJIHS) over St. Germain High School in the junior section of the inter-school hockey tournament conducted by the St. Germain Old Boys Association here on Thursday.

Shivakumar nets winner

Shivakumar’s 44th minute goal helped Income Tax defeat IISC 1-0 in a BDFA ‘C’ Division league match on Thursday. The league will have a break on Friday and Saturday.
