It was a day of upsets in the Servo National ranking table tennis South Zone championship. On the penultimate day's action at the Sree Kanteerava indoor stadium here on Saturday, top seeds in the youth boys, youth girls and junior boys and the third-seed in the women's singles all went out crashing.

Reeth Rishya of Tamil Nadu, the eighth seed in this tournament continued her upsetting spree, scalping second seed Manika Batra to clinch the junior girls' singles title. Reeth won 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8, 11-6.

Having upset the top seed, Maharashtra's Mallika Bhandarkar, in the quarterfinal on Friday and fourth seeded Camelia Sil of West Bengal in the semifinal this morning, Reeth was confidence personified.

She dropped the first game, but exploiting her opponent's weakness, the Chennai girl made every point count with some controlled aggression to win the next four and clinch the title.

When Abishek Yadav, the top seed in the junior boys demolished the challenge from fourth seed Vivek Bhargava, in the semifinals one expected him to put it across unseeded Rajib Sarkar too. But Sarkar came out with quick silver attacks to catch the top seed napping time and again. Sarkar showed scant respect for the rankings list in his 8-11, 11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 13-11, 13-11 win.

The day also saw upsets in the youth boys singles wherein TN's Susmit Sriram toppled top seeded Soumyajit Ghosh of AAI in the pre-quarterfinals of the youth boys section.

In the youth girls quarterfinals eighth ranked Nikat Bhanu of Andhra Pradesh ousted top seed Pooja Sahasrabudhe (Maharashtra).

In the women's singles second round unseeded Sushmita Roy accounted for third seed Divya Deshpande (Air India), also quite comfortably.
