NEW DELHI: Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh won the boys and girls titles respectively in the 36th National sub-junior basketball championship in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, on Wednesday.

Host Rajasthan defeated Madhya Pradesh 81-58 after leading 41-28 at halftime. In the girls’ final, Chhattisgarh retained its title beating Uttar Pradesh 71-46 after an intense first half when the team had led 20-17.

The results: Boys: Final: Rajasthan 81 (Devender 29, Mahipal Singh 28) bt M.P. 58 (Shankar 18, Shubam 16). Third place: Maharashtra 53 (Ghulam Moinuddin 18, Mohammed Salim Malik 17) bt U.P.47 (Ashish 13). Semifinals: Rajasthan 82 (Devender 33, Mahipal Singh 22) bt U.P. 48 (Pankaj 15, Prabhat 10).

Girls: Final: Chhattisgarh 71 (Sangeeta 22, Sarabjeet 20) bt U.P. 46 (Varkha 19, Garima 10). Third place: Maharashtra 61 (Rupali 23, Shriya 14) bt Kerala 51 (Pooja Mol 20, Elizabeth 12).
