THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain interrupted South Zone's progress on the second day of the under-19 inter-zone cricket tournament at the Medical College ground on Monday.

South, overnight 26 for three, recovered to 105 for five, thanks to an unbeaten knock by Nithin Jacob Philip. But, heavy rain prevented any play in the afternoon.

At the Agriculture College ground, Central was wobbling at 81 for four in reply to KCA XI's first innings total of 263 for seven. Nikhilesh held the innings together with an unbeaten 45 when rain brought a premature end to the day's proceedings.

North Zone 132 in 46.5 overs (Sreeraj five for 30, Rahul Krishnan three for 24) v South Zone 105 for five in 31 overs (Nithin Jacob Philip 46 n.o., Farzeen four for 33).
