Respected cricket writer Raghunath Rau passed away at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here on Thursday following prolonged illness. He was 67.

Coming from a family of journalists in Lucknow, Rau, a prolific writer himself, started his career with the Times of India and worked with The Statesman in Delhi before joining Sunday Mail .

He was known for his incisive cricket reports and was respected for his analytical writing.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.

Cremation will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Nigambodh Ghat.
