: The race for semifinal spots in the TNCA's first division remained open with the cricket league set to enter its final day on Sunday.
Young Stars, which led the table with 46 points after the tenth round, conceded a 107-run first innings lead, and the chance to secure five points, to UFCC (T. Nagar). Veteran batsman S. Sharath (83 n.o.) resisted off-spinner Wilkins Victor (six for 96) to put UFCC in front. Young Stars made 62 for one in its second innings.
India Pistons and Jolly Rovers, second with 45 points, are both in positions to gain the first innings lead, but they have their tasks cut out.
Pistons — engaged in a contest with Grand Slam, which is eyeing a semifinal spot as well, being one of three teams on 42 points — ended the day on 169 for one, thanks to S.S. Ponn Xavier (77 batting) and R. Srinivasan (81 batting).
Grand Slam had made 352, R. Rohit (90) and V. Yomahesh (70) scoring half-centuries. Pistons spinner M. Ashwin ended with figures of five for 74. Rovers declared its innings on 351 for seven, but Indian Bank made a solid reply, finishing on 87 for no loss.
Globe Trotters, on 42 points, took the first innings lead against Aruna thanks to left-arm spinner S. Tilak (six for 49), but a second-innings collapse put it in an insecure position. At stumps, Trotters was ahead by 135 with five wickets in hand.
