Qualifier Rakshit Rishi joined seven other seeds in the quarterfinals of the Raheja $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament here on Wednesday.
Playing in his first international men’s tournament, Rishi capitalised on his quarter of the draw that had opened up after third seed Sanam Singh had pulled out owing to an injury.
Rishi defeated lucky-loser Sagar Ahuja 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to set up a quarterfinal against former national champion and eighth seed V.M. Ranjeet.
In other quarterfinals, top-seeded Yuki Bhambri will play local lad Vijayant Malik, Vijay Sundar Prashanth will challenge the fourth-seeded Vishnu Vardhan, and second seed Sriram Balaji will fight it out with Saketh Myneni, who has won a few titles at this level.
