Local lad Prem Singh, who came through qualifying rounds, won the under-18 singles title defeating top seed Rakshit Rishi of Delhi in the Dalhousie Institute Vision Search AITA talent series at the red clay courts of the Institute on Saturday.
Both the under-18 singles finals were shortened owing to rain and were reduced to best of three short sets.
The top seed wrapped up the first set in just about 15 minutes 4-1. Despite the early reverse, Singh engaged Rishi on baseline duals, thus denying him an opportunity to catch him at the net. This helped Singh, who closed the second set 4-1. In the final set, Singh used all his experience to overpower young Rishi 4-1 to take the title.
