Palakkad took the honours against Ernakulam in the Central Zone under-25 inter-district cricket match at the Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium here on Thursday.

Palakkad bowlers, Hari Prasanth (four for 52) and Arun (three for 25) dismissed host for 145 in the first innings to give the crucial lead for Palakkad. Hari Prasanth struck a quickfire half-century (88) as Palakkad scored 212 in the second essay and left host a huge target to chase in the second innings.

The Thrissur-Idukki match also ended in a draw with Idukki taking the first innings lead.

The scores: Palakkad 156 & 212 in 60.2 overs (Hari Prasanth 88, Subramanyam 57, Jiyas three for 22) drew with Ernakulam in 50.1 over (Hari Prasanth four for 52, Arun three for 25) & 79 for five in 16 overs (N.Arjun three for 20); Thrissur 182 & 170 in 42 overs (Jaffar Jamal 59, K.A.Anzar five for 75) drew with Idukki 268 in 69 overs (Abdul Jalal 62, Manudev 57, Vishnu N.Babu 42, Sreehari three for 69) & 30 for two in five overs.
