Orissa led former champion Bengal 5-0 in 85 minutes of play in the final of the senior National women's football championship at Bhilai on Tuesday.

The play was stopped owing to heavy rain and the remaining five minutes of play and injury time, if any, would be gone through on Wednesday morning.

It would be absurd to think a team which could not score a single goal in 85 minutes of play would do something very dramatic on the morrow. For Orissa it was as good as winning the title.

Orissa led by Sasmita Mallick's fifth minute strike before the halftime.

The second half was totally dominated by Orissa which scored four more goals till the rain-induced stoppage through Jabamoni Soren (50th), Pinky Magar (60t{+h}), Shradhanjali Samantary (71s{+t}) and Sasmita (80t{+h}).

If Orissa wins, it will be the State's first National title. — Special Correspondent
