BANGALORE: Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), the sponsors, topped the Second Division I-League table with 19 points. On the final day of the nearly month-long championship at the Football Stadium here, ONGC remained unbeaten in the eight-team league to finish with 19 points.
ONGC and HASC (16 points) will be promoted to the first division I-league next season.
ONGC, playing bottom placed NISA (Manipur) and despite dominating the show, did not seem to be interested in scoring and toyed with the opposition before Badmas Babatunde scored the decisive goal in the 79th minute to end the agony.
Top goal scorers
Babatunde by virtue of this strike emerged joint top scorer in the league along with Vasco's Koko Sakibo, with six goals each. Satish Kumar (Jr) of HASC with five goals and ONGC's Tarif Ahmed (four) were the other leading scorers.
In the day's earlier match Malabar United (Kozhikode), thanks to strikes in the seventh and 35th minutes from Jacken Sebastian, downed Oil India 2-0.
