BANGALORE: ONGC posted a 1-0 win over Vasco SC in the second division I-League final round at the Football Stadium here on Wednesday.

The all-important goal was scored by Badmas Baba Tunde in the first minute of the second session.

ONGC with its half-line of Jatin Bisht, Sandeep Sanga and Kenistan working tirelessly, but took time to find its rhythm. And once they did, it was a horrid time for Vasco goal-keeper Siddesh Morje. The custodian however did hold his forte for most of the match with some stout-hearted saves keeping Tarif Ahmed and Badmas Baba Tunde at bay.

However in the very first minute after change of ends, a fine ball by Tarif found Baba Tunde free on the right and he neatly chipped it past Morje.

In the later stages Vasco did most of the attacking but Koko Sakibo and Joy Ferrao looked hopelessly out of sorts.

At the other end Kenistan shook the upright while Bisht found his neat chip being deflected for an abortive corner by Morje.

With this win ONGC has four points while Vasco remains on three after two matches.

Sporting wins

Later in the day, Mohammedan Sporting overcame NISA (Manipur) 2-0 with the second goal coming in the third minute of injury time.

The speedy Manipur boys did give a harrowing time to the Sporting defence but failed to convert the chances into goals. Theodore Sunday gave the Kolkata side the lead in the 38 {+t} {+h} minute while Eduardo da Silva consolidated with a 93 {+r} {+d} minute strike.

Sporting has four points with this win while NISA has a solitary point.
