Multi-national company Anglian Holdings on Wednesday announced the setting up of a new venture, Anglian Medal Hunt Company (AMHC), to facilitate development of athletes with an aim to help them win medals in the Olympics.

AMHC has already signed 12 young sportspersons from three disciplines (boxing, athletics and swimming) and hopes to increase it to 30 by the yearend.

AHMC will help these athletes in training, international exposure, procurement of equipment and gear, access to quality healthcare and nutrition and coaching support. It will also give them cash stipends on a monthly basis.

The athletes who have been signed up by AHMC are: Devendro Singh, Shiva Thapa, Sumit Sangwan, Gaurav Bidhuri and Sarjubala Devi (boxing), K.T. Irfan, Basanta Bahadur Rana (walking), Neetu Kumari, Harmila Bains (800m), Khushbir Kaur (20km walk), Navjeet Kaur Dhillon (discus) and V.K. Achuthan (swimming). — Principal Correspondent
