New Delhi’s Yamuna Sports Complex will host the third National-ranking archery tournament from Thursday to Sunday. The meet gains immense importance because the Indian teams for the third and fourth World Cup tournaments and the Indian junior team for the second Asian Grand Prix will be named.
The World Cup archery Stage 3 will be held at Medellin in Colombia from July 15 to 21 and the Stage 4 will be at Wroclaw in Poland from August 19 to 25.
The second Asian GP will be at Ulaanbaaar in Mongolia from July 27 to August 2.
India will also be participating in the Cali World Games at Santiago de Cali in Colombia to be held from July 25 to August 4.
A two-member men’s compound team of Rajat Chauhan and Ritul Chatterjee has been shortlisted for the Games.
India, which bagged two silver medals and a bronze at the Shanghai World Cup last month, had a very disappointing outing at the Antalya World Cup a few days back winning just one silver medal.
With the world championship scheduled from September 29 to October 6 at Belek Antalya in Turkey, the performance of the Indian archers will be keenly watched in the upcoming international events. — Special Correspondent
