Sportspower, USA, won a close tie against Indian Railways 92-86 in the men’s league of the eighth Savio Cup all-India basketball tournament here on Wednesday.
Southern Railway, the defending champion in the women’s category, overcame the reverse in the opening match to down a formidable Chhattisgarh 79-47 with Geethu Anna Jose scoring 24 points.
Southern Railway led by eight points in the second quarter, making the most under the offensive board whenever the former NBA players were on the bench for the visitor. Sportspower roared back to go ahead 54-47 at half-time and continued in the same vein to win.
