CHENNAI: Armaan Ebrahim finished a creditable fifth in the second race after spiralling out in the first in the Formula 2 championship at Monza (Italy) during the weekend.
Starting 16th on the grid in Race 2, Armaan started well making three places in lap 1 and then drove a fine race by passing another eight cars in the next 12 laps.
He passed Clarke and Snoeks and was a hair-breadth distance of passing Stoneman for the fourth place but the latter pulled away.
“It was a weekend of mixed emotions. We were right on top in practice 1 and qualifying 1. Qualifying 1 could have been better. Qualifying 2 looked good. Race 1 ended before it started. Race 2 was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed myself passing close to 11 cars on a circuit that is extremely difficult for overtaking,” said Armaan.
Meanwhile, Parthiva Sureshwaran opened his account with a 10th place finish. “I started off well in the second race, gained a couple of places, and was holding position pretty well. After the opening lap, I had to avoid an accident that happened right in front of me. I went off the track to avoid getting into trouble but joined back behind the five cars that had qualified behind me,” Parthiva said.
“I finally managed to break into the points by finishing 10th. I am feeling confident for the rest of the season as I have managed to find some good balance with my car and driving,” he added.
