Moonlight Sports Club beat Cosmos Club 3-1 in a Group A match of the DLF-ONGC-SAIL Delhi Soccer Association A division football league at the DDA Netaji Subhash Sports Complex, Jasola, here on Thursday.

Felix, Atiq and Sreeram scored the goals for Moonlight, while Dhruv reduced the margin.

Kundu dead

Retd. Hon. Flying Officer Patit Paban Kundu, who was involved in the administration of Durand football tournament for nearly 40 years, passed away earlier this week following a massive cardiac arrest. Kundu had been suffering from asthma. He was 78.

Kundu was well-known for his administrative skills as well as his caring nature.

A qualified referee, Kundu officiated in some Subroto Cup matches and was associated with its conduct prior to the 1990s.

Rathore scintillates

A six-goal spree by Ravi Rathore powered 61st Cavalry to a 12 goals to 6-1/2 victory over Navy in a league match of the BLK Baroda Cup 10-goal polo tournament at the Army Equestrian Centre, Delhi Cantonment, on Thursday.

The league will continue on Saturday, at the Jaipur Polo ground, after a day’s rest.

The results: 61st Cavalry 12 (Ravi Rathore 6, Vishal Chauha 4, Sameer Chaudhary, Pushpender Singh) bt Navy 6-1/2 (Angad Kalaan 4, Akhil Sirohi 2, handicap 1/2).

Param stuns Shrey

Param Pun stunned the second-seeded Shrey Gupta 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 to make the under-16 boys’ final of the AITA Championship series junior tennis tournament at CLTA Complex, at Chandigarh on Thursday.
