KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan picked up its fourth consecutive win in the domestic season, beating Peerless SC 3-0 in a premier division encounter of the Kolkata Football League at its home ground here on Wednesday.
Nigerian striker Edeh Chidi, Japanese midfielder Ryuiji Sueoka and Biswajit Saha struck for the winner. With this win, Bagan has gained the sole lead on top of the league table with 12 points from four matches.
Shrugging off the lethargy that was evident in the laboured 1-0 win against Calcutta Customs in the previous match, Bagan showed better application against Peerless. After missing couple of close chances, Chidi found the mark in the 42nd minute to put Bagan one up at the break.
Playing even better in the second session, Bagan enhanced the lead in the 77th minute when Sueoka found the net off a Chidi assist. Saha rounded off the scoring with a fine goal in the injury time.
In another match of the same division played at Khardah, Kalighat Club beat Calcutta Customs 3-2. Cristiano, Sukumar Roy and Sukurudin Laskar scored the Kalighat goals while Avijit Goswami Sheikh Raja reduced the margin for Customs.

Dilip Xaxa, Amrinder Kumar, Joseph Ekka and Suman Kujur scored the CCFC goals while Saikat Pally reduced the margin for Behala SA.
In two other first round qualifying matches, West Bengal Police and Calcutta Port Trust registered similar 3-1 wins against respective opponents Chittaranjan Locomotive Works SA and Police Athletic Club.

“It is a great challenge and I am ready for it. I am looking forward to giving my best,” he said.
