CHENNAI: Mizoram came up with a brilliant performance to defeat Chandigarh 6-1 in the 29th sub-junior National football championship at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Friday.
Lianzova scored a brace for Mizoram in the 11th and the 29th minutes, while Lalmuanpuia (54th), R. Malsawmtluanga (71st), Malsawmfela (73rd) and Lalhlimpuia (76th) scored a goal each.
T.H. Jonychand Singh scored the only goal for Chandigarh in the 88th minute.
Chandigarh was reduced to ten men in the second half after Taranjit Kumar was shown the red card following an argument with the referee.
The second match of the day, in which Karnataka defeat Sikkim 2-1, saw more red cards as Karnataka's B. Ramesh and Sikkim's Pema Dhendup Sherpa were sent off towards the end of the match.
P. Deepak scored the first goal for Karnataka in the 16th minute, after which Sikkim's Robin Gurung scored an own goal in the 35th minute.
Sikkim's only goal came through a penalty, when Bijendra Rai was brought down.
