MEG and HAL entered the final of the 33rd State-level hockey tournament for the BEL Kodava Cup with contrasting wins here on Thursday.

The former needed the tie-breaker to overcome ASC in the first semifinal, after the teams had finished 1-1 in regulation time. Muttappa, Kariappa, and Ganesh Kumar all found the target as MEG emerged a 4-2 winner. Only Rowa Bengra could convert from the spot for ASC.

HAL had no such worries, swatting ITI aside 6-1. Md. Nayeem struck a brace while Nanaiah, Jagannath, Ramesh, and Rajesh all scored.

The results:

Semifinals: MEG 4 (Chittiappa, Muttappa, Kariappa, Ganesh Kumar) bt ASC 2 (M. Muthanna, Rowa Bengra) (via tie-breaker, 1-1 in regulation time); HAL 6 (Md. Nayeem 2, Nanaiah, Jagannath, Ramesh, Rajesh) bt ITI (Pramod).
