Gujarat ended the penultimate day of the four-day Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy elite Group C league game against Bengal at 125 for one at close at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake ground here on Wednesday.

Earlier, Bengal, resuming its first innings at 302 for four, declared at 469 for six. Gujarat will need 345 more runs in 90 overs on the final day to take the lead and three points. With the pitch helping the willow wielders, Bengal will have to bowl with a lot of discipline to stop Gujarat from achieving its target.

Overnight unbeaten Writam Porel added just three runs to his overnight 120 before departing. Under-19 star Sudip Chatterjee scored 55 and wicketkeeper Sufiyan Khan remained not out on 56 when the declaration came.
