KARACHI: Left-arm spinner Paul Harris had a lengthy bowling spell on Saturday in South Africa’s drawn three-day warm-up match against Patron’s XI.

Harris bowled 32 overs and got three wickets for 75 runs as Patron’s XI made 302 for eight in reply before the match ended. Mark Boucher had hit an unbeaten century in South Africa’s massive first innings total of 467.

Harris is the only specialist spinner in the South African squad for the two-Test series against Pakistan starting in this southern port city on Monday.

Top scorer Rizwan Ahmed (56), who grabbed seven wickets in South Africa’s first innings, impressed with his batting and hammered four boundaries and a six before he became one of Harris’s three scalps.

Test discard Asim Kamal (49) missed out on his half century for Patron’s XI and fell to the gentle off-spin of captain Graeme Smith.

The scores: South Africa 467 drew with Patron’s XI 302 for eight (Rizwan Ahmed 56, Taufeeq Umar 50, Asim Kamal 49, Shahid Yousuf 42). — AP
