This season’s English League Cup final could be an all-Manchester affair after cross-town rivals Manchester United and Manchester City avoided each other in Wednesday’s semifinal draw.
Four-time winner United, which beat Stoke City 2-0 in the quarterfinals, will play Sunderland, which shocked Chelsea 2-1 on Tuesday.
“It’s a cup game. It shows you how well Sunderland played, they beat Chelsea last night and they played well to get that result,” said United boss David Moyes after his side’s victory over Stoke.
City, meanwhile, was drawn against West Ham United, having booked its place in the last four when it defeated second-tier Leicester City 3-1 on Tuesday. — AFP
