MEG ‘A’ and Malaysia Juniors posted victories in the KSHA Super Division hockey league (round two) here on Thursday.

Holding a clear edge by dominating possession, MEG ‘A’ slammed three goals past PCTC at the KSHA Stadium. Both teams were slow off the block, though PCTC will rue a missed opportunity to score in the 12th minute. Defender Anup Kujur whipped the ball in from the centre-line, which just evaded a diving K. Kalyan at the far post.

MEG ‘A’ regrouped, and in the 29th minute, C.U. Bopanna cleaned up a loose ball off a missed penalty corner to give his team the lead. In the second-half, the sappers held on to the ball with quick passing, which pulled the PCTC team forward.

Then, with plenty of space up front, MEG ‘A’ surged ahead to create pressure. Goals eventually arrived from Rakesh Anthony (43rd minute) and Kiran Kunjappa (50th minute).

Earlier, Malaysia Juniors continued its dominant run (five consecutive victories) by posting a 5-3 victory against BEML. The Malaysians led 4-0 at one stage, before BEML narrowed the margin.

The results: Malaysia Juniors 5 (Kavin Karthik, Rashid Baharom, Hafiz Zainol, Firhan Ashari, Dangerous Lee) bt BEML 3 (Kalappa, Nanaiah, Chingappa); MEG ‘A’ 3 (C.U. Bopanna, Rakesh Anthony, Kiran Kunjappa) bt PCTC 0.
