Tamil Nadu scored a 31-17 win over Kerala, while Maharashtra registered a 50-18 victory over Gujarat to enter the final of the 26th all-India postal circles kabaddi tournament at the Rail Stadium here on Wednesday.

Vijayawada DRM Pradeep Kumar was the chief guest.

Semifinals: Tamil Nadu bt Kerala 31-17; Maharashtra bt Gujarat 50-18.

League matches: Tamil Nadu bt Karnataka 39-22; Maharashtra bt Andhra Pradesh 28-12.

Sivadeep advances

At Guntur, Sivadeep defeated Shahank 6-1, 6-2 to enter the boys’ singles semifinals of the AITA talent series under-14 tennis tournament on Wednesday.

In the girls’ singles, Lipika, P. Santhi, Sri Sai Sivani and Alekhya made it to the last four.

Masters athletics

The State masters’ athletics championships will be held at the Port Stadium in Visakhapatnam from Dec. 14 to 16. More than 1,300 men and woman athletes from 17 districts will participate in the meet.

Athletes who are above 80 years will also participate, a release from the Andhra Pradesh Masters Athletics Association said on Wednesday.

Cash award

The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) Secretary, Gokaraju Ganga Raju, on Wednesday presented a cash award of Rs. 4 lakhs to the ACA ‘A’ team for qualifying for the Elite Group in the Col C.K. Nayudu Trophy at Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The ACA President, D.V. Subba Rao, ACA Director (Cricket Operations) M.S.K. Prasad and other members congratulated the team.
