DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Haroon Lorgat of South Africa as its Chief Executive on Friday.
The 47-year-old Lorgat was announced as the new head of cricket’s World governing body less than a week after Imtiaz Patel of South Africa withdrew his candidacy.
Lorgat will take over as the ICC’s third CEO in July when Malcom Speed’s seven-year term ends. “I am grateful to the ICC for appointing me as its new CEO and look forward to an exciting journey in a game I have truly loved from a very young age,” Lorgat said. — AP
