Very sad

The sixth edition of IPL is all set to begin. This time, too, there are no Pakistani cricketers in the tournament. Is it not sad? Pakistan has star players such as Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi and Misbah-ul-Haq. who add flavour to the competition.

Buck up

The Kerala State cricket team must take into account the good performance in Buchi Babu, Vijay Hazare, Mushtaq Ali Trophy and analyse it with the sloppy display by the State in the Ranji Trophy. I believe it’s time Kerala Cricket Association roped in Amol Muzumdar and allowed him to captain Kerala next season.

Unfortunate

The attack on New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder is unfortunate. The attack has come in for severe condemnation and get-well messages have poured in from all quarters.

Corporate power

Big money and corporate sponsorship have been influencing FI racing results for quite some time. A needle of suspicion always pointed to the machinations and manipulations of brand teams after repeated triumphs of particular names (drivers). Only now has it come to the surface, during the 2013 Malaysian GP after Sebastian Vettel spilled the beans inadvertently.

Messi magic

This refers to the No Boundaries column dated March 31. I am a great fan of Viv Richards and Brian Lara for their delectable stroke-making abilities. Their long innings were poetry in motion. But Nirmal Shekar’s extraordinary description of the dribbling skills of Lionel Messi of Barcelona, who became the first player to score against every other side in the Spanish League in consecutive matches, has made me a football fan, too.
