Emphatic win
Darren Sammy and his team deserve accolades for their emphatic win in the T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka. The win will surely provide the much-needed boost to West Indies cricket.
With Gayle blazing at the top, followed by the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Marlon Samuels in batting and quality bowling by Ravi Rampaul, Sunil Narine and Samuel Badree the team looks formidable. Hopefully this triumph will propel the team to more laurels in other formats of cricket as well.

Incredible triumph
Congratulations to the West Indies on winning the T20 World Cup. That the Caribbeans could successfully defend a paltry total of 137 runs against the host nation in the final was really incredible. The margin of victory was 36 runs! Spinner Narine, who bagged three wickets conceding just nine runs, deserves special mention.

Poor show
Team India’s poor show was not totally unexpected. If the bowling was woeful, the batting came a cropper, particularly the opening partnership.
We had no quality spinners of Ajmal, Narine or Raza’s class.
Captain and Dhoni’s strategy to bring part-time spinner Rohit Sharma ahead of R. Ashwin almost backfired against South Africa. Surely India had no excuses.
