It was heartening to hear of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Sahara Group sinking their differences. The move paved the way for an amicable settlement with the concurrence of all parties and smooth conduct of the IPL. Besides, Sahara's promise to continue its involvement with the Indian cricket team augurs well for the future of the game in the country.

Indian cricket management's decision to rotate senior players in the ongoing ODIs needs to be appreciated. The next ICC World Cup is to be held in Australia and New Zealand. So if one among Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar takes a break, a youngster will get a chance to play on Australian soil which is a wise step.

Where does India stand, even 65 years after Independence? Will we see light at the end of the tunnel?
A. Ramachandran Potti,
