Former Hyderabad cricketers were disappointed about V.V.S. Laxman quitting international cricket but paid glowing tributes to him.

BCCI vice-president N. Shivlal Yadav: He could have gone on a high by playing in the two-Test series against New Zealand. He is one of the finest batsmen in contemporary cricket and the game will miss his wristy elegance.

Former India Test star M.V. Narasimha Rao: I still believe that he is the most elegant batsman ever and the world cricket will miss him badly.

Former Test cricketers S. L. Venkatapathi Raju and Arshad Ayub: He is a class act. Not very often one can see such a gifted batsman in contemporary cricket.

Former Hyderabad skipper Abdul Azeem: He never hit the ball hard and it was all about timing and elegance. And he was a terrific gentleman on and off the field.
