Kottayam crushed Malappuram by nine wickets and won the title in the State under-19 women’s cricket tournament at the Fort Maidan on Wednesday.
After dismissing Malappuram for a paltry 30, Kottayam romped home losing just one wicket. Meanwhile, Idukki defeated Thiruvananthapuram by eight wickets to finish third.
The scores: Final: Malappuram 30 in 16.4 overs (Anjana Paul three for 10, Arya Janardhanan three for 13) lost to Kottayam 31 for one in 11.1 overs. Loser’s final: Thiruvananthapuram 105 for six in 30 overs lost to Idukki 108 for two in 23.2 overs (Aswathy 30 n.o., Minnu Mani 30 n.o.). Semifinals: Thiruvananthapuram 91 for seven in 30 overs lost to Kottayam 92 for five in 24.4 overs (Susmitha Mary George 39 n.o., Sheena three for 11); Malappuram 157 for seven in 30 overs (Viji Thomas 70 n.o., Aneena Mathews five for 24) bt Idukki 129 for six in 30 overs.
Easy for Boys CC
At Thiruvananthapuram, Boys CC scored a 51-run win over Rising Star CC in the TDCA ‘C’ Division league on Wednesday. In ‘D’ Division, Fighters CC posted a one-wicket win over Trivandrum CC.
The scores: ‘C’ Div.: Boys CC 179 for eight in 27 overs (Vincent 46, A.V. Rajesh 43, Mohammed Anaz three for 31) bt Rising Star CC 128 for eight in 27 overs (B.S. Pivin 48, E. The Kerala State inter-district tennis championship will be held at RSC, Kadavanthra, from Dec. 30 to Jan. 1, 2013.
