Kollam: Kottayam took the first innings lead against host Kollam and picked up two points in the South Zone under-17 inter-district cricket tournament at the Ashramam Maidan here on Friday.

Kottayam, in reply to Kollam's first innings total of 162, scored 205 for nine before rain forced the match to be called off after tea.

At the Medical College ground, Thiruvananthapuram, in reply to Pathanamthitta's first innings score of 234, was sitting pretty at 222 for three when heavy rain stopped play an hour after lunch. Both teams got a point each from the tie.

Kollam 162 in 65.3 overs drew with Kottayam 205 for nine in 85 overs (Deepesh 42, Ronson Puthenpura 28).

Pathanamthitta 234 in 66.2 overs (Philip K. Joseph 119, Sadam Khan 42, R.S. Renjith four for six, Likhil Francis three for 41, Subash three for 61) drew with Thiruvananthapuram 222 for three in 53 overs (R.S. Renjith 64, R. Aravind 54 not out, Bipin Chatterjee 36).
