Despite playing without its internationals, K.S. Poojamol and Elizabeth Hillarios, Kerala brushed aside host Rajasthan 69-25 and won the under-19 girls’ basketball title in the National School Games.
Premi P. Lal led the scoring with 24 points while P.G. Anjana and Grima Merlin Baby chipped in with 14 and 13 respectively.
The Kerala boys won their first basketball medal at the Games, after defeating Madhya Pradesh 73-48 for the bronze.
The results: Girls: Final: Kerala 69 (Premi P. Lal 24, P.G. Anjana 14, Grima Merlin Baby 13) bt Rajasthan 25 (Usha Chauhan 11).
Boys (for positions 3 and 4): Kerala 73 (Sreerag N. Nair 21, A.R. Akhil 18) bt Madhya Pradesh 48 (Muhammed Junais 19).
