Defending champion Kerala girls stamped their authority over Punjab with a 3-0 win to seal the top spot in Group ‘A' of the 38th junior National volleyball championship for boys and girls, here on Thursday.
Kerala will play Group ‘C' runner-up Haryana in the quarterfinals.
Last year's finalist, Tamil Nadu, as the Group ‘B' leader, will take on Group ‘A' runner-up Punjab, while West Bengal will meet Maharashtra and Karnataka will clash with Uttar Pradesh in other girls' quarterfinals.
Defending boys' champion Uttar Pradesh took its appointed place and will play Punjab in the quarterfinals. Karnataka will clash with Maharashtra, the Group ‘A' runner-up, while Group ‘C' winner Tamil Nadu lock horns with Group ‘D' second-placed team, Kerala.
Andhra Pradesh, which finished the second best in Group ‘B,' will play Group ‘D' topper Haryana in other quarterfinals games. All the quarter-final knock-out matches will be played on Friday. — Special Correspondent
