New Delhi: The Indian challenge in the Japan Open Super Series ended when P. Kashyap lost to World No. 3 Peter Hoeg Gade 10-21, 10-21 in the pre-quarterfinals in Tokyo on Thursday.

Kashyap opened up a 4-0 lead but Gade crawled back to draw parity at 7-7 and from there on didn’t give any chance to the Indian.

In the second game, the Dane cruised along right from the start as Kashyap’s game crumbled and he was left to do the catch-up act.

Saina Nehwal, Jwala Gutta and V. Diju crashed out of the tournament on Wednesday. — PTI
