Host Karnataka will feature in 12 out of the 20 final and semifinal rounds of the 16th sub-junior and 17th Challenger sprint national rowing championships here. Seventeen rowing associations from across the country have sent their contingents here.

The final of eight events will be held at the Trishna Club on Friday, while another set of finals is scheduled for the concluding day on Saturday.

Karnataka’s G. Tarun Krishna Prasad and M. Manoj Kumar shone bright to enter the boy’s under-13 double sculls, while S.M. Manasa and R. Josna matched their feat in the girl’s section of the same event.

This championship is viewed as a precursor to the Junior Nationals, which takes place in Uttarakhand in November.

The winners from that event will then represent India in the junior Asian Championship (South Korea).
