Nanda’s strike helps Rangers hold Primrose

Nanda scored in the 49th minute and helped Rangers HC hold Primrose HC to a 1-1 draw in their last league encounter of the M.G. Aiyappa Memorial hockey tournament at the KSHA Stadium here on Sunday. Both Rangers and Primrose entered the semifinals.

The result: Rangers HC 1 (Nanda 49) drew with Primrose HC 1 (Ramesh Yadav 32).

Gopinath wins

D.P. Gopinath defeated Nitin Tiwari 12-10, 11-8, 12-10 to win the non-medallists’ singles event of the Canara Union State ranking table tennis tournament at the Prakash Courts here on Sunday.

ASC, RWF draw match

Army Supplement Corps (ASC) and Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) played out a 1-1 draw in their last BDFA super-division match at the Football Stadium here on Sunday. ASC opened its score in the 55th minute after Aroj Saikh’s cross was headed into the goal by Ramachandran. However, three minutes later, Rajesh equalised for RWF.

ASC finished with 10 points and RWF ended up with 9.

Satish Gopalkrishnan and navigator Savera D’Souza topped the Pro Expert category in the Grand Krishna Rally of Chikmagalur, which is incidentally the first round of the Indian National TSD Rally Championship, at Chikmagalur on Sunday.

The Team Tata Motors combine of Vaneeta Kang and Nidhi Mittal won in the ladies’ segment.
