GWALIOR: P.N. Shruti scored five goals, including a hat-trick, as Karnataka blanked Rajasthan 15-0 in a pool match of the 37th women’s junior National hockey championship here on Thursday.

Shruti’s goals came in the 39th, 49th, 51st, 54th and 57th minutes. Karnataka controlled the pace of the match from the start and remained in the hunt for a quarterfinal berth.

Big win

In another tie, Tamil Nadu trounced Vidarbha 9-0 with S. Rasana scoring four goals. Former champion Punjab had a tough outing, but still won 4-1 against Chhattisgarh. Kirandeep Jr. scored a hat-trick. Paramjit Kaur was the other scorer.
