Doha: Shiv Kapur carded five-under 67 to turn the tide and ensure a strong weekend presence at the Doha Golf Club while Jyoti Randhawa braved severe pain to complete his second round in par 72 at the $ 2 million Commercial bank Qatar Masters golf tournament on Friday.
Other three Indians - Rahil Ganjee, Jeev Milkha Singh and Gaurab Ghei - on the field also made the cut.
Kapur was one-over through the first 10 holes and then he turned in five birdies in six holes and six in last 10 to rebound from four-over to two-under.
That saw Kapur tied at 28th, the best among Indians, while three other Indians were tied 33rd at the midway stage.
Kapur is tied with Ernie Els and Thaworn Wiratchant among others.
Gangjee (68), Jeev Milkha (71) and Randhawa (72) were at one-under 143 in tied 33rd, while Gaurav Ghei was at one-over 145 in tied 52nd.
Atwal tied 41st place
Arjun Atwal negotiated the incredibly tough and long South Course at Torrey Pines for a two-under 70 that put him in the tied 41st place at the end of the first round of $ 4.5 million Buick invitational golf tournament at San Diego.
Daniel Chopra, who was also playing at the South Course was one-under 71 to be joint 57th.
Thomas Levet of France and American Brandt Jobe shot identical seven-under 65 each to share the lead after playing at the easier North Course. - PTI
