DINDIGUL: Sa. Kannan of Kottaiyur produced the major upset by defeating the fourth seeded former State champion S. Mari Arul of Southern Railway, Chennai, in the fourth round of Sri Gopalakrishna Naidu Kaveriammal Memorial FIDE-rated open chess tournament on Monday.
Kannan shares the lead with top seed B.T. Muralikrishnan of Southern Railway, R. Pounraj of Coimbatore and Linda Rengarajan of Pondicherry at the end of the fourth round.
