: Kalighat Milan Sangha FC and Southern Samity registered their second wins in contrasting fashion in the second division I-League Group C here on Saturday.
While Kalighat FC humiliated Eagles, Kerala 5-1, Southern Samity scored a soliltary goal win over local side South United FC (SUFC). Southern Samity jumps to the top of the eight-team Group C league with seven points, while Kalighat is on six points.
SUFC needed a win after two successive defeats. But as the game progressed, a goal looked distant.
After a forgettable first-half, the Kolkata team struck the all-important goal in the 74th minute. Following a long throw-in, Tuishim Mashangva headed only to see the ball bounce back off custodian Razakh. An unmarked Suroj Mondal volleyed home in style.
Earlier, Kalighat Milan Sangha FC drubbed Kerala’s Eagles 5-1. Nippy Nigerian Chizoba Christopher struck a fine hat-trick, with James Gbilee and Reisang Pemmi Kasomwoshi adding to the tally. Captain A.M. Sumesh struck Eagles’ lone goal.
