N. Jyothi Sai Krishna’s 103 helped Krishna finish the second day at 221 for eight against Prakasam in the three-day ACA Central Zone senior inter-district tournament at Vijayawada on Tuesday. In the other match, chasing 432 to victory, West Godavari was tottering at 20 for three.

Sabbavaram and Port Stadium entered the girls’ final of the inter-summer camp tournament, organised by the District Basketball Association, at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

The results: Girls semifinals: Sabbavaram bt Siva Sivani School 15-10; Port Stadium bt Pendurthi 11-3. Boys (advanced learners): Kotak Selasian School bt Pendurthy 16-4.

AP squads announced

The Andhra Pradesh squads for the sub-junior National aquatic championship’2013 to be held at Panaji from June 20 to 23 have been announced.

The following were chosen after the sub-junior inter-district aquatic championship cum selection trails were held at arangal in May.

The Hindu’s Sarma, Gurucharan get placings

M.U.B.G. Sarma and V.V. Gurucharan of The Hindu won second place in chess and third place in shot put respectively of the VJF CMR inter-media sports meet at the Port stadium in Visakhapatnam.

D. Asha Latha of VJF won the chess title and Jagga Appa Rao of Andhra Voice was third.
