Arrows FC began its St. Joseph’s-CFA senior division league campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over RPF on Thursday.

K. Thiyagarajan’s team dominated from start to finish and the coach would have been particularly pleased with the performance of both of his Nigerian recruits, Morgan Justice and Arohizundu Joel, as they scored a brace each.

Arrows took only seven minutes to score the opening goal of the match when Soosai Raj’s cross from the left, found Justice in the box and it was finished calmly by the forward.

Justice and Joel continued to terrorise the RPF defence and the lead was doubled in the 28th minute in spectacular circumstances as the latter struck a ferocious left-footed shot from almost 30 yards to score.

The match progressed in a similar fashion in the second half and four minutes after the hour mark, Joel again produced a moment of brilliance as he fired a diving header past the goalkeeper. The Nigerian duo then went on to miss a host of chances, before breaching the RPF defence one last time in the 90th minute, when Justice finished a through ball by chipping it over the goalkeeper.

The results: Senior division: Arrows 4 (Morgan Justice 7, 28, Arohizundu Joel 64, 90) bt RPF 0.

First division: DBYC Broadway 0 drew with Central Excise 0. — Sports Reporter
