VIJAYAWADA: In a see-saw battle, Uttar Pradesh drew with Jharkhand 1-1 in a Group F encounter of the DNR 12th sub-junior National hockey championship at the DNR grounds at Bhimavaram on Thursday.

After a barren first half, Uttar Pradesh took the lead in the 41st minute with Sunil Kumar Sarkar sounding the board with a fine goal. The players from Jharkhand fought back and drew parity in the 59th minute, thanks to G. Tigga's goal.

In Group C, Jammu & Kashmir made mincemeat of Gurajat 10-0, while Bihar defeated Hyderabad 4-0 in a Group H encounter, with Binay Bhemgra converting a penalty corner in the very first minute. He also scored in the 51st and 68th minutes to seal the fate of Hyderabad.

Himachal Pradesh outplayed Rajasthan 4-1 thanks to the efforts of Prashanth Kalsh, Harveek Singh and Sachin Kumar.
