A group of young underprivileged girls from Ormanjhi near Ranchi will get an opportunity to carry the National flag in Spain, thanks to the initiative by an American philanthropist and a firm from Tamil Nadu.

The non-profit organisation — Yuva India Trust — headed by Franz Gastler introduced an 18-member under-14 soccer team, who will play two tournaments for girls in San Sebastain (Donosti Cup) and Victoria-Gastiez (Gastiez Cup) in Spain in the first two weeks of July.

Yuva’s initiative is supported by Gamesa India, a major name in wind turbines industry based in Chennai.

“We are looking to rewrite their futures through soccer. This is a sport that gives these children the drive and the energy to dream about a better future,” said Gastler, whose organisation is working for community advancement in rural Jharkhand.
