A bout of food poisoning put paid to the aspirations of top-seeded Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan as he retired after splitting two sets in the pre-quarterfinals against Lee Duck Hee of Korea in the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at the VIP’s Club here on Wednesday.
Jeevan said he was on “drips” till late into the night before, and did not have the energy to stretch the fight when the Korean won the second set 6-4, after having lost the first 6-7(5).
Second-seeded Sriram Balaji set up a quarterfinal against the National grass court champion R. Ramkumar.
