MADRID: Jelena Jankovic said she took little notice of compatriot Ana Ivanovic across the net on Wednesday, emerging with a scratchy 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win in a Serbian clash to reach the third round of the Madrid Masters.

Rafael Nadal, the second seed, opened his Madrid campaign with a 6-4, 6-3 second round win over Oleksander Dogopolov. Eighth seed Marin Cilic also advanced with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Argentine Edouardo Schwank.

Roddick pulls out

American Andy Roddick will head into Roland Garros with only one or two clay matches to hand after withdrawing from the Madrid Masters with a stomach virus.

The fifth seed was unable to take to the court against intended opening opponent Feliciano Lopez of Spain after fighting the illness for the past several days.
